Precarity–Depression Explorer

An interactive tool from the DINAMICS-2 project (Amsterdam UMC & University of Amsterdam). It simulates a neighbourhood of 300 residents, starting from data on more than 21,000 Amsterdam adults in the HELIUS study. You can plan financial, mental health and social support, change how financial stress, social precarity and depressive symptoms influence each other, and watch the neighbourhood respond. Available in English and Dutch, with a guided tour.

Based on Park, Elsenburg, Nicolaou, Stronks & Vasconcelos (2026), Connecting precariousness and depression: From causal discovery to intervention simulation, SSM – Mental Health, and the causalnet R package.
